BIGGA Invites Greenkeepers to Help Shape the Future of the Association
The British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA) has launched a new survey, inviting all greenkeepers—whether members or not—to share their opinions on the structure and role of the association.
This initiative aims to ensure that greenkeepers are central to BIGGA’s plans for developing its activities and structure, helping the organisation stay equipped to meet future challenges.
The survey, which marks the first step in a comprehensive consultation phase, is being conducted in collaboration with Sporting Insights, a leading sports marketing research organisation. Greenkeepers can complete the survey on the BIGGA website, and participants will be entered into a draw to win £500 in Amazon vouchers.
Key Areas of Feedback
The questionnaire offers greenkeepers the opportunity to share their views on BIGGA’s membership offerings, including:
- The value of current benefits and initiatives.
- Potential changes to membership categories.
- The role of volunteers.
- BIGGA’s advocacy for members within the industry.
Comments from BIGGA Leadership
Scott Reeves, BIGGA’s head of membership, highlighted the association’s commitment to listening to greenkeepers’ needs:
“BIGGA has a proven history of advancing the profession of greenkeeping and providing innovative benefits. As we approach our 40th anniversary, it’s vital to listen to all stakeholders—members or not—to remain an influential force within golf and turf management.
“This survey is a genuine opportunity for everyone in greenkeeping to influence the direction BIGGA takes in the coming years.”
BIGGA CEO Jim Croxton added:
“The greenkeeping industry never stands still. At BIGGA, we aim to match that mentality by seeking clear feedback to ensure our offerings remain fit for purpose. I’m proud of the strides BIGGA has made but we cannot rest on our laurels. I hope many of our members and other stakeholders will help us achieve even more in the coming years.”
Steve Lloyd, BIGGA chairperson and course manager at The Worcestershire Golf Club, emphasised the importance of participation:
“Completing this survey gives us a voice in shaping the future of our association and profession. Our insights and experiences as greenkeepers are invaluable in defining the direction BIGGA should take. I encourage all greenkeepers to take part.”
A Legacy of Innovation
BIGGA has consistently evolved to meet its members’ changing needs, including:
- Developing the Continue to Learn education programme.
- Implementing the industry’s first Continuing Professional Development system.
- Addressing workforce recruitment, retention, and mental health concerns with targeted investments.
