Cheshire Golf Completes Unification
The Cheshire County Ladies Golf Association and Cheshire Union of Golf Clubs have officially merged to create Cheshire Golf Limited, becoming the unified home of golf in Cheshire for all.
The announcement was made by Cheshire Golf secretary Steve Doughty at a recent EGM.
A Milestone in Northern Counties
David Durling, who chaired the pre-unification meetings, noted:
“Cheshire follows Lancashire and becomes the second merged county in the Northern Counties Golf Union this year. It is also the third merged county overall in the Northern Counties Golf Union, alongside the Isle of Man and Lancashire, and the 10th merged county in England.”
Durling, a member of Shrigley Hall, also confirmed that Cleveland McCurdy, who plays at Ringway Golf Club, will serve as chair of the board of directors.
A Vision for the Future
McCurdy outlined the aims of Cheshire Golf Limited:
“Our goals are to promote and grow the game of golf in our county in a safe and friendly environment, welcoming everyone irrespective of age, gender, and ethnicity.
“We aim to represent and support golf clubs in offering a broad range of competitive golf for players of all ability levels. Additionally, we are committed to engaging with golf clubs to understand their needs and improving communication between us.
“I, together with my board, am looking forward to this new chapter.”
