Scott Meakin Makes History at Chorlton Golf Club
New Chorlton Golf Club captain Scott Meakin has become the youngest ever captain in the Manchester club’s 122-year history.
Scott is also the lowest handicap captain in the club’s history. The 41-year-old plays off three and has been as low as two.
Scott, who is head of sport at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, has won the prestigious Batty Trophy twice.
He said: “My favourite hole at Chorlton is the 16th, which is a great par five with a really tricky tee shot if you want to go for it in two.
“If going for it in regulation, you need to lay up to a good number as the green is a tough one.”
Scott shared his favourite course: “My favourite course that I have played other than Chorlton is Woburn.”
He plans to play up to three times a week depending on the time of the year.
Scott’s hobbies, other than golf, include reading, cooking (on the BBQ), watching all sports, and supporting Manchester City.
Scott has chosen The Children’s Adventure Farm as his charity for the year.
