Dazzling Dan Delivers to Win Carris Trophy
Bramhall Golf Club star Daniel Hayes delivered a masterclass on the final day of the 2024 Carris Trophy to be crowned champion at Ormskirk Golf Club.
The Cheshire and England golfer started strong, carding three birdies in his first four holes and finishing the day with a stunning four-under-par 67.
His exceptional performance brought his overall score to 16-under-par, securing a two-shot victory over France’s Arthur Carlier.
The Frenchman applied pressure with three birdies from holes 9 to 11, but bogeys on 16 and 18 dashed his hopes despite an impressive round of 69.
Following his victory, Hayes said:
“It’s big. It feels good. I’ve had a lot of second places over the past year and a half, so it feels nice to get over the line.
“I think the key was just keeping it in play by taking two-irons and three-woods when you needed to instead of driver, as you can make some big scores from the rough.
“I probably won’t do much celebrating as I’ve got to head to the English Amateur, so I’ll be straight back into it!”
England Triumphs in Nations Cup
In the Nations Cup, England 1, consisting of Hayes, Ben Bolton, and Drew Sykes, emerged victorious.
Hayes and Bolton’s scores of nine under and six under over the first two days contributed to an impressive 15-under-par team total, finishing nine shots ahead of their closest competitors, Netherlands 2.
