PING Unveils iDi Driving Irons with inR-Air Technology for Elite Trajectory Control
PING has officially launched the new iDi driving irons, a purpose-built long iron solution designed for better players who demand trajectory control, versatility, and premium feel from the top of their bag.
Now available for custom fittings at PING-authorised retailers, the iDi series introduces groundbreaking inR-Air™ technology and delivers performance-enhancing features across three loft options.
Engineered for Better Players and High Swing Speeds
Developed to complement or replace traditional long irons and fairway woods, the PING iDi driving iron lineup includes:
- 2 iron (17°) – low launch, low spin
- 3 iron (20°) – mid launch, mid spin
- 4 iron (23°) – higher launch, more spin
All three models offer precise shot shaping and elevated ball speeds, making them ideal for golfers with faster swing speeds looking for distance and accuracy off the tee or on long approaches.
“The iDi is a great option for better players wanting control with forgiveness in a sleek iron profile,” said John K. Solheim, PING CEO & President. “We’ve built it with three distinct lofts so players can dial in their ideal ball flights.”
Introducing inR-Air™ Technology for Superior Feel and Sound

At the core of the iDi’s innovation is inR-Air™, a patent-pending air pocket engineered inside the clubhead to dampen unwanted vibrations at impact.
This internal cavity, combined with a new i-Beam structure, enhances both feel and sound, addressing a long-standing challenge in driving iron design.
“inR-Air is a breakthrough for this category,” Solheim said. “It softens impact frequencies without adding unnecessary weight or complexity. The result is a more satisfying strike with every shot.”
Advanced Materials and Precision Construction
Each iDi iron is crafted with a 17-4 stainless steel body and a thin forged maraging steel face, delivering explosive ball speeds and consistent launch. Key features include:
- Lower center of gravity (CG) for better energy transfer
- Robotically welded face for strength and precision
- Compact shape and 1° flatter lie to encourage easier workability
- Shorter blade length and head profile for improved control
Weight savings from the air pocket and cavity structure also contribute to higher MOI (moment of inertia), especially on high and low strikes.
