Srixon Introduces i-FORGED Technology in New ZXi Irons for Unmatched Feel
Srixon has officially unveiled its latest innovation in iron design, i-FORGED, a breakthrough forging process engineered to dramatically enhance feel in the new ZXi Iron lineup.
The new ZXi7, ZXi5, and ZXi4 irons each feature tailored applications of this technology, developed in collaboration with Srixon’s Japanese forging partners.
Long known for their precision and craftsmanship in forged irons, Srixon Golf focused i-FORGED around player feedback that overwhelmingly ranked feel as the most important factor in iron performance.
What Is i-FORGED?
i-FORGED is a multi-step innovation in clubhead manufacturing, aimed at delivering softer, more responsive irons without compromising structural integrity.
At the core of i-FORGED is a proprietary process called Condensed Forging, which strengthens specific areas of the iron head to allow for softer materials and heat treatments elsewhere.
“Our mission with i-FORGED was simple: create the best-feeling irons we’ve ever made—without giving up durability,” said a spokesperson from Srixon’s R&D division.
How Condensed Forging Works
The Condensed Forging process strategically strengthens vulnerable areas of an iron’s clubhead—such as the hosel, topline, or toe—by imprinting raised ridges into the steel during the first forging step.
These are later smashed flat during a second forging, creating localized hardness and reinforcing the structure at a microscopic level.
This allows Srixon engineers to use softer steel compositions or heat treatments in other parts of the clubhead to enhance feel—while still meeting performance and durability standards.
ZXi7: One-Piece Forging Meets Softer Steel
The ZXi7 irons are a fully forged, one-piece design where Condensed Forging is applied to the hosel—the part most susceptible to bending.

This reinforcement made it possible to use S15C steel, which is 7% softer than the previous generation (as measured on the Vickers hardness scale), delivering superior feedback for skilled players.
ZXi5 and ZXiU: Enhanced Feel Through Heat Treatment
In the ZXi5 and ZXiU models, Srixon kept the previous generation’s materials but targeted the topline and toe-side of the blade with Condensed Forging.

This allowed engineers to soften the face plates via heat treatment, achieving a 14% reduction in hardness for noticeably improved feel—without sacrificing strength or stability.
ZXi4: More Bendability, Wider Appeal
The ZXi4 irons, designed for distance and forgiveness, received a custom material upgrade: SUS 17-47 stainless steel. Engineers applied localized heat treatment to the hosel, softening it by 30% to increase bendability.
This change makes ZXi4 easier to fit and adjust for a wide range of players, from game-improvement users to custom-fit seekers.
Why Feel Matters
According to consumer surveys conducted by Srixon, 95% of respondents said “feel” was very important when choosing irons. In fact, it was the top reason golfers cited for purchasing Srixon irons.
By combining player-driven insights with cutting-edge forging techniques, i-FORGED represents the next step in precision iron design—built to deliver tour-level responsiveness and confidence at impact.
Try ZXi Irons In-Store or at a Fitting
Srixon encourages golfers to test the new ZXi Irons at authorized retailers or fitting centers to experience the feel difference for themselves.
With i-FORGED technology integrated across the ZXi family, players of all skill levels can find an iron that suits their game.
“When your irons feel better, you play better,” the company stated. “Our goal is to unlock confidence through craftsmanship.”
