Golf Genius Launches Technology Framework with Players 1st
Golf Genius has launched a new framework to help golf club managers make technology decisions.
The four-step guide, developed with Players 1st and industry bodies including the GCMA, provides practical tools for assessing and implementing golf club software across operations.
The 32-page framework responds to findings from the 2025 Golf Club Software Technology Report.
Research showed two-thirds of clubs are considering changing software providers, whilst more than half are seeking external guidance on technology decisions.
Four-Step Process for Software Selection
The framework guides managers through Investigation, Tender, Decision and Implementation phases. Each stage includes practical resources designed to support structured decision-making.
Tools within the framework comprise a Software Audit Tool for evaluating current systems, a Total Cost of Ownership Calculator for long-term value assessment, an RFP Template for supplier engagement and a Supplier Evaluation Matrix for benchmarking performance. Together, these enable club leaders to assess effectiveness beyond headline costs.
Craig Higgs, Managing Director of Golf Genius – International, said:
Software has become a strategic asset, not just an operational tool. This framework was created to support club managers who want to make objective, informed decisions in an increasingly complex software landscape.
Collaboration with Industry Partners
The guide was developed in partnership with golf survey specialists Players 1st, alongside the Golf Club Managers Association (GCMA), CMAE Scotland, CMAI, UK Golf Federation and Golf Club Secretary. The collaborative approach ensures the framework reflects real operational challenges facing club managers.
Jakob Buksted, Director of Research at Players 1st, commented: “The more knowledge we can provide to clubs, the better equipped they are to select technology that fits their unique needs. This project gives decision makers the structure and insight they need to plan change responsibly and effectively.”
The framework builds on Golf Genius’s Digital Playbook, which outlines how the company partners with golf associations, PGAs and clubs worldwide to deliver integrated technology solutions.
