Business and Golf Come Together for a Successful Greater Manchester Business Golf Cup at Mellor
Mellor Golf Club hosted the inaugural Greater Manchester Business Golf Cup on Thursday 25th September, welcoming business teams and golfers from across the region for a day that combined competitive play with networking and camaraderie.
With the sun shining and the course in pristine condition, the event showcased both the sporting spirit and community focus that define Mellor Golf Club.
Winners and Prizes
The day delivered some fiercely contested golf, with the top three teams all tied on 81 points.
The eventual winners were FP Dry Lining – Guy Shorrock, Jack Livesey, Brian Pemberton and Ryan Ainsworth – who edged victory on countback thanks to a strong back nine of 41 points, taking home the £800 top prize.

Just behind were Techneheat Plant Services, represented by Steve Roberts, Pete Roberts, Mike Anderson and Andrew Marshall, who finished second with 39 points on the back nine, earning £500.
Third place went to Seven Creative Movies – Phil Hardman, Martin Scott, Roger Ebbage and Mike Taylor – who claimed £300 with 37 points on their back nine.
Individual honours added extra excitement to the day:
Lee Toughey (Gariff) claimed the Longest Drive, while Steve Hammond (7W Design) showcased accuracy with both the Straightest Drive and Nearest the Pin on the 14th.
Other nearest-the-pin winners included Matt Peden (Hatch), Phil Crosthwaite (Mercury), Graham Davenport (Craftmill) and Tom Cunliffe (Vaughan), each earning a £50 prize.
The ever-popular Beat the Pro challenge on the 14th saw ten players outshoot John the Pro, with Dave Audley drawn as the overall winner, taking home a brand-new Ping wedge.
Although no one managed a hole-in-one this year, leaving the £10,000 prize fund unclaimed, the atmosphere remained upbeat throughout.
