Helsby Golf Club Officials Launch New Season with Drive-In
President Brian Prince, captain Martyn Guest, lady captain Viv Nagle and junior captain Austin Osbourne were all delighted to hit great drives down the fairway on the first hole.
The drive-in marks the first event of their year of office and they really appreciated the support of around 100 members, family and friends who were at Helsby Golf Club to see them hit their shots.
Martyn has chosen Merseyside and Cheshire Blood Bikes for his charity and Viv has selected Alzheimer’s Research.
Competition and Celebrations
The fiercely contested golf competition was followed by the prize presentations in the clubhouse.
The winners on the day were defending champions Adam Jones and Tim Hammonds in the gents section with a score of 61. Lady captain elect Janette Wark and Debbie Briscoe, with a score of 65, were the top female finishers.
The clubhouse was busy again in the evening for the drive-in dinner. The spectacular food was provided by golf club chef Peter Rowley and his Handsome Carrot team.
Following the meal there was fabulous music by the group Split Decision and this had everyone dancing the night away. It marked the end of a fantastic day with good weather, great golf, and lots of laughs.
