Jo Delighted to Lady Captain at Her Wonderful Club
Jo Lingwood is a very proud member of Bramhall Golf Club and delighted to be the Lady Captain for the coming year.
Jo said: “I am proud to have been a member of the club 13 years and am now looking forward to the year ahead as the Lady Captain.
“The club has a 205-strong ladies’ section of which 131 are playing members.
“Bramhall is a welcoming, vibrant, and inclusive club with an innovative strategy supported by its members.
We enjoy competing and having fun in equal measures.
“I am a retired nurse, midwife, and latterly a Care Home owner/manager.
“My current handicap is 21.0 and my best was 20.7.
“My own personal golfing highlight would be winning the Challenge Bowl in 2011—a 36-hole qualifying competition.
“My favourite hole at Bramhall is the 16th, which has a beautiful view over towards Shrigley Hall and the surrounding hills of the Peak District, and it is a par four on which you can score well.
“My other favourite course is Holyhead, Anglesey, where I enjoy playing frequently.
“I like to play twice a week, weather permitting, and more in the playing season to include competitions, matches, and social mixed matches.
“My other hobbies include supporting Bramhall’s Brookdale Theatre and dabbling in badminton, table tennis, and Pilates, spending time with the family and our young granddaughter, and supporting Manchester United.
“My chosen charity for the year is Francis House Children’s Hospice, which is a vital support network for those families with a child who has a life-limiting illness.
“A lifelong friend of mine has a grandson who is in need of their care, and the support given to her son and family has helped them to cope.
My chosen four-ball to play in would be our very own Bronte Law.
She will always have a part in Bramhall Golf Club’s heart and is an inspiration to me.
Charley Hull, another Great British player, still competing and supporting juniors to become better golfers—thus she may show patience to me!
Finally, Annika Sorenstam, the best female golfer for stability and wise words.”
