John Pleased with His Charity Effort
Heaton Moor captain John Wheeler chose a local charity as his choice for the captain’s charity during his year in office.
He was delighted to present a cheque for £2,000 to the officers of the Dementia Friendly Heatons Group, Beryl Whitehead, the original organiser, and Joanne Roy, the current main organiser.
John said: “I chose this charity because many of my friends and family are suffering due to this horrendous disease.
“The main events that contributed to the total were raffles, captain’s drive-in and Saturday’s men’s competitions (nearest-the-pin in two on the ninth or 18th hole).
I would like to thank all members at Heaton Moor Golf Club for their support.
“The Dementia Group is very successful with thanks to the many volunteers that help and support to make it a happy environment for all to visit.
“The money raised will go towards the running costs and this year’s Christmas function.”
The Dementia Friendly Heatons Group are based at Heaton Moor United Church on Stanley Road.
