La Cala Resort has completed a total transformation of its 107-room hotel, ensuring that the off-course luxury now perfectly mirrors the championship quality of its three world-class golf courses.
A New Standard for Golfers
The historic La Cala Resort has officially unveiled the final phase of an extensive renovation programme.
This move brings all 107 rooms up to a contemporary luxury standard, specifically designed to offer a sanctuary for golfers after a day on the fairways.
Situated in the Sierra de Mijas, the resort now offers a seamless experience that blends Andalusian charm with modern convenience.
Enhanced Living Spaces

Following the first phase in early 2025, the final 50 rooms have now been refurbished to match the elevated aesthetic of the rest of the hotel.
The redesign includes upgrades to the Junior Suites, which now feature improved layouts and a lighter, more contemporary feel.
Public areas have also been reimagined to create an intuitive flow, encouraging golfers to unwind in a more social, welcoming atmosphere.

Sean Corbet-Real, General Manager of La Cala Resort, stated:
This renovation represents our commitment to matching world-class facilities with an exceptional stay experience.
“We’ve created spaces that feel both contemporary and timeless, allowing the natural beauty of our location to remain the star while ensuring our guests enjoy every modern comfort they expect. With the completion of this final phase, every guest now enjoys the same high standard, regardless of which room they stay in.”
The Layout
The renovation ensures the accommodation matches the prestige of the resort’s three courses, all designed by the legendary Cabell B. Robinson.
- Campo America (North Course): A par-72 layout stretching 6,009 metres. Known for its hilly topography and five par-5s, it requires precise carries over brush-covered side slopes.
- Campo Asia (South Course): The most technical of the three at 5,925 metres. It demands strategy and precision, with narrow fairways and well-defended greens.
- Campo Europa: At 6,014 metres (par-71), this course features the River Ojén, which comes into play on eight different holes.
The Challenge
For golfers looking for technical variety, the resort offers a unique mix of elevation and water hazards.
The Campo America 16th is a standout par-3 that requires a carry over a lake to a green guarded by a fountain.
Meanwhile, the Campo Asia 18th is a classic risk-and-reward par-5 where long hitters must decide whether to carry the ravine to reach the green in two.
