Play Golf and See the Northern Lights at Lofoten Links
Golfers seeking something extraordinary can now combine world-class golf with one of nature’s greatest wonders at Lofoten Links.
Situated above the Arctic Circle in Norway’s Lofoten Islands, the acclaimed course offers the rare opportunity to play during the day and marvel at the Aurora Borealis by night.
Golf Above the Arctic Circle

Ranked among GOLF.com’s Global Top 100 courses, Lofoten Links is celebrated for its dramatic coastal landscape and unique location.
The golf season runs from May to October, with mid-May to late July offering the remarkable experience of 24-hour play under the midnight sun.
General Manager Frode Hov explained:
“It is a rare opportunity to play world-class golf by day and experience one of nature’s greatest wonders by night. The midnight sun in the summer followed by the Northern Lights in the winter, has positioned our property as a year-round bucket-list opportunity.”
On-site Nordic-style lodges, designed to face north and located far from city lights, provide visitors with unobstructed, pollution-free skies — often allowing them to enjoy the Aurora Borealis without leaving their accommodation.
Aurora Borealis Creates Year-Round Appeal

While summer is defined by midnight sun golf, the appeal extends well beyond peak season.
From October to April, the long nights of the Arctic winter create optimal conditions to witness the Northern Lights.
Shoulder months (mid-August to mid-October) offer a blend of both worlds: rounds of golf during the day and Northern Lights displays in the evening.
Off-season guests can also explore wellness retreats, stargazing sessions, photography tours, coastal walks, and horseback Northern Lights excursions at nearby Hov Gård.
Cabot Investment Strengthens Global Profile
In 2024, luxury golf developer Cabot made a strategic investment in Lofoten Links, enhancing its status as the only world-ranked golf course located entirely within the Arctic Circle.

The move aligned the Norwegian venue with Cabot’s prestigious portfolio, which includes Cabot Cape Breton, Cabot Highlands in Scotland, and Cabot Citrus Farms in Florida.
“The influence of Cabot’s investment will propel Lofoten Links forward and ensure we continue to provide world-class levels of hospitality, golf and customer experiences for all who make the trip to Lofoten,” added Hov.
With its unique combination of golf and natural wonders, Lofoten Links Northern Lights packages have cemented the venue’s reputation as one of the most distinctive golfing destinations in the world.
