Clean Sweep for Saddleworth
Saddleworth captain Lee Rowbotham had reason for double celebration after the Oldham and District Centenary and 36-hole District Championship at Werneth Golf Club.
The former Werneth member used his course knowledge to great effect, firing a first-round nett 66 to claim the Centenary Trophy.
He then followed up with a 74 in the afternoon for a 140 total, which took him into a six-hole play-off with Crompton and Royton member Gary Melling.
He was one-under-par for the six holes, which also sealed the District Trophy too.
A delighted Saddleworth Golf Club professional Andrew Earlam said:
“Congratulations to Lee, who proved to be Captain Fantastic.
“His game has gone from strength to strength since we paired up in the Captain Pro Challenge at Ormskirk,” he added.
