Trafford Golf Centre Expansion Adds 82 Bays in 2026.

Trafford Golf Centre Announces Major Expansion in Manchester

Trafford Golf Centre expansion plans will add 82 bays across two new three-storey buildings at the TraffordCity site in Manchester.

The development, backed by significant investment, responds to demand from over 23 million golf balls hit annually and up to 2,000 daily visitors at Europe’s premier golf practice facility.

The expansion includes a 15-bay West Wing and a six-bay East Wing, with construction beginning in January 2026.

The driving range will close for approximately 12 weeks from 5 January 2026, reopening in April 2026.

The Clubhouse, American Golf store, The Academy, and Dino Falls Adventure Golf will remain open throughout the works.

Trafford Golf Centre Expansion Adds 82 Hitting Bays

The Trafford Golf Centre expansion will create 82 hitting bays to reduce waiting times and accommodate growing visitor numbers.

The development responds to increased demand at the facility, which has become the UK’s most popular golf practice and family leisure destination.

Works will include enhanced perimeter fencing for safety and security.

Existing bays will be refreshed and modernised to improve the drive, dine, and drink in-bay experience. The facility sits within TraffordCity, described as the UK’s most experiential retail and leisure location.

The centre currently hosts The Academy, recognised as the country’s largest golf improvement centre. The expansion aims to maintain service levels whilst meeting demand from golfers of all abilities.

Three-Storey Wings to House Premium Bays and Academy

The West Wing will feature 15 bays across three storeys with modern lounge bay designs. These premium spaces will offer a comfortable practice environment with updated facilities.

The East Wing will house a three-storey, six-bay structure dedicated to The Academy. The Manchester golf practice facility will use this space to continue its golf improvement programmes and coaching services.

Both wings represent a major architectural addition to the existing site. The multi-storey design maximises capacity whilst maintaining the facility’s footprint within the TraffordCity golf centre complex.

Driving Range Closes January to April 2026

The driving range will close from 5 January 2026 for approximately 12 weeks, with a phased reopening planned from April 2026 onwards.

The closure allows for major refurbishment works to each bay, outfield target and fencing improvements, structural work, and the construction of new multi-storey extensions.

The scale of the upgrade requires a temporary closure for safety and to provide construction teams with necessary working space. Some preparatory works have already begun on site to enable construction to start in January 2026.

Pete Styles, Director of Golf at Trafford Golf Centre, said:

These new developments are a direct response to the incredible demand we’ve seen, and we can’t wait to welcome even more visitors to enjoy everything we have to offer.

The centre will share regular updates on construction progress through its social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn.

Clubhouse and Academy Remain Open During Works

The Clubhouse Bar & Kitchen, American Golf store, The Academy, and Dino Falls Adventure Golf will remain fully operational throughout the 12-week closure period.

This ensures visitors can continue to access key facilities whilst the driving range undergoes its transformation.

The UK golf academy will continue individual lessons during construction, with balls hit into indoor nets using ball-tracking software to capture ball flight data. Group coaching classes will be suspended temporarily during this period.

Dino Falls Adventure Golf will remain unaffected by the works. The main entrance and car park will stay open, with any temporary adjustments communicated in advance via the centre’s website and social channels.

The facility has experienced significant growth in recent years, establishing itself as a destination for golfers, families and leisure visitors within the TraffordCity complex.

The Trafford Golf Centre expansion aims to enhance the experience across the site whilst maintaining accessibility to key facilities during construction.
