Tracey Rowbotham Wins Big on Saddleworth’s Marrakech Golf Trip
SADDLEWORTH lady captain Tracey Rowbotham produced the best golf of her life to pull off a shock overall victory on the recent club trip to Marrakech, Morocco.
It looked like a shootout on the final day between captain Lee Rowbotham and professional Andy Earlam as they topped the merit points earned over the first three days of competition, but Tracey, having put herself into contention with a best of the day 39 points on day three at The Royal Golf Marrakech, produced a final day best of 36 points at Assoufid Golf Club to take the overall crown by a single point.
Tracey was also the runaway winner of the bronze division and had other successes to claim a handsome chunk of the £1,000 prize pot.
Division Winners and Competition Highlights
The other division winners were:
- Andy Earlam (Platinum)
- Daz Neary (Gold)
- Alan Summer (Silver)
The 18-strong party thoroughly enjoyed the seven-day trip, which included rounds at El Maaden Golf Resort and Noria Golf Club, as well as daily coaching sessions from both Andy and club teaching professional Jason Williams.
Coaching Success and Team Spirit
Jason built up a band of players christened “Team Yodel” due to his “pass the box” coaching tip that worked wonders for Tracey and others.
Andy’s putting lessons also proved popular on a trip that saw some great golf and lots of laughs, as points were also awarded for best team names and best-dressed pairs.
