Palmares Leads Algarve Golf with Major 2025 Tournaments
Palmares Ocean Living & Golf is setting the standard for golf in Portugal in 2025, having been chosen to host a series of prestigious tournaments in the Algarve this winter.
The luxury 27-hole resort has been at the heart of the region’s golfing scene since the start of the year, staging six events on the growing PT Tour alongside the 44th edition of the Almond Blossom Tournament – the Algarve’s longest-running amateur golf event – at the end of January.
Hosting Portugal’s Elite Golfers
Held across a combination of Palmares’ three nine-hole loops – Alvor, Lagos, and Praia – the PT Tour events have drawn many of Portugal and Europe’s top golfers. Notable participants include leading Portuguese players Pedro Figueiredo and Ricardo Melo Gouveia, as well as Ireland’s Mark Power.
Gouveia and Lars Van Meijel have already claimed victories at Palmares in recent weeks, and both will be among the contenders chasing success – and a €15,000 prize fund – in the Optilink Tour Championship, the PT Tour’s grand finale, set to take place from February 25-27.
The Iconic Almond Blossom Tournament

Palmares also had the honour of hosting the Almond Blossom Tournament from January 21-25, a much-loved event in the Algarve that blends competitive golf with camaraderie, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the region’s iconic almond blossom season.
Nuno Sepulveda, co-CEO of Details – Sports, Hospitality, Leisure, the management company of Palmares Ocean Living & Golf, commented:
“It’s been a great start to the golfing year at Palmares and is fully deserved for a resort that is not just one of the best in Portugal, but the whole of Europe.
“Palmares offers the finest views in the region, allowing golfers to play while taking in the breathtaking vistas of the Atlantic Ocean and the Bay of Lagos.
The resort is honoured to have the opportunity to host this prestigious series of tournaments and looks forward to organising many more events of this calibre in the future.”
A Premier Golf & Lifestyle Destination

Nestled within the natural amphitheatre of the Bay of Lagos, Palmares’ 27-hole golf course was redesigned by the renowned Robert Trent Jones Jr. in 2011 and is considered one of Portugal’s top golfing destinations.
The resort complements its world-class golf facilities with exceptional hospitality, fine dining, and exclusive real estate opportunities.
Palmares’ globally recognised clubhouse was named ‘Europe’s Best Clubhouse’ at the 2024 World Golf Awards and is home to the Michelin-starred restaurant AL SUD.
Golfers visiting Palmares can choose from a variety of luxury accommodations, including elegant one, two, and three-bedroom signature apartments and a boutique Beach Hotel.
