Tee Off for Men’s Health: The Big Golf Race 2025

As the golf season swings into full gear, there’s an exciting opportunity for golf lovers to combine their passion for the game with an important cause.

The Big Golf Race 2025 is calling on golfers of all abilities to take part in a unique challenge: raise awareness and vital funds for prostate cancer research. It’s time to make every hole count – for yourself, for the sport, and for men’s health.

What is The Big Golf Race?

The Big Golf Race is not just any round of golf. It’s a challenge designed to test your stamina, your golf skills, and your determination to support a life-saving cause.

Whether you’re playing two rounds or tackling the ultimate Ultra Marathon (100 holes in one day), your participation will help fund essential research into early diagnosis and better treatments for prostate cancer.

A word from the Big Golf Race ambassador, Danny Willett, highlights the urgency:

“I was shocked when I found out one man dies every 45 minutes from the disease – the same time it takes to play three holes of golf.”

By taking on this challenge, you’ll be directly helping fund research that can save thousands of lives, while raising awareness about the importance of early diagnosis.

How Does It Work?

Taking part in The Big Golf Race is simple, but making a difference requires commitment. Here’s how you can get started:

1. Set Up Your Fundraising Page

First, create a JustGiving page to collect donations. Share your challenge with family, friends, and colleagues, and tell them why you’re raising money. With a personal message, you’ll inspire people to support you and prostate cancer research.

Consider setting an initial target of £600 – the average amount raised by participants – and aim to surpass it! Don’t forget to share your page widely on social media or through WhatsApp.

2. Choose Your Challenge

You can choose between three challenges:

  • The Marathon: Play four rounds (36 holes) in one day.
  • The Half Marathon: Play two rounds (72 holes) in one day.
  • The Ultra Marathon: Push your limits and complete 100 holes in one day.

Pick the challenge that suits you and your team best – and don’t forget to check the daylight hours to ensure you can fit in your rounds!

3. Pick Your Course and Date

If you’re a club member, you’re set! If not, don’t worry. There are plenty of public courses that you can get in touch with, and Prostate Cancer UK can help you arrange tee times. Choose a date that works for your team, keeping in mind daylight hours if you plan on multiple rounds.

4. Rally Your Team

This is a team challenge, so gather your golfing friends to take on the course together. The more, the merrier – and the more money you can raise for prostate cancer research!

Fundraising Tips

The more creative and motivated you are, the higher your fundraising total will be. Here are some tips to maximise your efforts:

  • Set a Goal: Consider starting with £600, the average amount raised. If you’re feeling ambitious, aim higher!
  • QR Codes: Make it easy for others to donate by sharing your JustGiving page via a QR code. Just add ‘/qrcode’ to the end of your page URL, and voilà!
  • Sponsorship Forms: Take advantage of the included sponsorship form. Share it at work, your local club, or anywhere else to boost donations.
  • Poster Power: Display a poster at your workplace or golf course to remind people of the great cause you’re supporting.
  • Get Creative: From quizzes and bake sales to raffles and auctions, there are plenty of ways to raise additional funds. Visit Prostate Cancer UK’s website for more fundraising ideas.

Every pound you raise will help fund critical research to catch prostate cancer early and save lives. Your efforts could lead to better tests and treatments for men at risk.

Inspiration for the Road Ahead

Need a little motivation? Meet Mike Bee, a golfer from Newbury who has raised over £36,000 through The Big Golf Race.

Diagnosed with prostate cancer three years ago, Mike’s story is a powerful reminder of why this challenge matters. “Prostate cancer kills one man every 45 minutes – about the time it takes to play three holes of golf,” he says. “If just one of the guys went home and encouraged someone to get checked, it’s job done for me.”

Mike’s journey is a testament to the power of raising awareness and making a difference. When you take on this challenge, you’re not just playing golf – you’re contributing to life-saving research and inspiring others to take action.

Make Every Shot Count

The Big Golf Race is more than just a test of endurance; it’s a chance to create lasting change. Get involved today, set up your JustGiving page, and start raising funds that could help save lives. Share your challenge with others and invite them to join the race or donate to your cause.

Ready to make every shot count? Start your journey now and help prostate cancer research go the distance. Visit Prostate Cancer UK’s Big Golf Race page for more details and to get started.

Why You Should Take Part:

  • Raise vital funds for prostate cancer research.
  • Push your limits with the Marathon, Half Marathon, or Ultra Marathon.
  • Join thousands of golfers making a difference.
  • Spread awareness about the importance of early diagnosis and PSA testing.

Let’s go the distance – together, we can help prostate cancer stay off the course for good.

How do I sign up?

You can sign up here. Choose which challenge you’d like to take on, pop your details in and we’ll send you a fundraising pack. If you’re taking part as a team, you can sign up as a team or individually.
