Celtic Manor Resort to Host G4D Open 2026-2028
Celtic Manor Resort will host The G4D Open from 2026 to 2028 under a new three-year agreement. The championship for golfers with disabilities takes place at the Welsh venue for the first time from 14 to 16 May 2026.
Celtic Manor Resort stages the event in partnership between The R&A and the DP World Tour, supported by EDGA.
The tournament moves from Woburn Golf Club, where it has been held since its establishment in 2023.
Championship Format and Competition Structure
The G4D Open features 80 male and female amateur and professional golfers competing over 54 holes of stroke play on the Roman Road Course.
The field represents nine sport classes across multiple impairment groups covering Standing, Intellectual, Visual and Sitting categories.
Brendan Lawlor and Daphne van Houten won the respective men’s and women’s divisions at the 2025 edition at Woburn. The championship has grown since its founding three years ago.
Celtic Manor Resort previously hosted the 2010 Ryder Cup when Colin Montgomerie captained Europe to victory over the United States.
The venue has established credentials for staging major amateur and professional tournaments.
Venue Selection and Course Details

The Roman Road Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones. It hosted three editions of the Wales Open on the DP World Tour from 2005 to 2007 whilst the Twenty Ten Course was being constructed for the Ryder Cup. The layout also staged the Wales Senior Open in 2015 and 2016.
Julie Hammond, Celtic Manor Resort Chief Executive, said:
We are thrilled to be hosting The G4D Open for the next three years and I am sure the picturesque Roman Road Course will provide a fantastic stage for these talented golfers to showcase their skills. Having hosted the Invictus Golf Challenge last year and worked with ISPS HANDA as title sponsor of the Wales Open for three years, we know all about the power of golf as an inclusive and accessible sport.
The venue has experience delivering accessible golf events through its previous tournament hosting and facility design.
Championship Development and Inclusion Goals
Johnnie Cole-Hamilton, Executive Director – Championships at The R&A, stated the championship demonstrates golf’s accessibility and welcomes people with disabilities into the sport. He thanked Woburn Golf Club and The Duke of Bedford for supporting the event during its first three years.
Maria Grandinetti Milton, Director of Sustainability at the DP World Tour, described The G4D Open as one of the world’s most inclusive golf championships.
She acknowledged Woburn’s support since 2023 and noted Celtic Manor Resort represents an exciting new era for the tournament.
The G4D Open forms part of the G4D Tour, which is operated by the DP World Tour. Launched in 2022, the tour includes the best ranked Gross and Net players from the World Ranking for Golfers with Disability.
Tournaments take place on the same course during the same week as flagship DP World Tour events.
Wales Golf Tourism and Economic Impact
The championship follows the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Porthcawl earlier in 2025. That event was the largest women’s sporting event held in Wales.
Jack Sargeant, Welsh Government Sports Minister, confirmed government support for The G4D Open at Celtic Manor Resort. He highlighted the event’s importance in the disabled sport calendar for amateurs and professionals, along with tourism and economic benefits for Wales.
Tony Bennett, President of EDGA, stated the organisation supports delivery of The G4D Open at the venue.
He described the championship as an opportunity to showcase golf’s benefits for disabled communities to local and global audiences. EDGA aims to ensure the tournament’s impact extends beyond championship week.
Celtic Manor Resort continues to build its reputation for inclusive golf through hosting The G4D Open across three years.
The venue’s facilities and tournament experience position it to deliver the championship at international standard.
