Golf Mobile App provides digital course guides, live updates, and bookings.
St Andrews Links Trust has launched the Home of Golf Mobile app, a digital companion for golfers playing the seven Links courses in St Andrews.
The free mobile application provides course guides, live updates, and booking functionality for both visitors and local golfers.
The app combines several features into a single platform. Digital course guides offer hole-by-hole information for each of the St Andrews Links courses.
Live updates notify users about course maintenance and conditions, while the Old Course Ballot process is streamlined through saved golfer details.
Integrated Technology Brings Live Course Data
The app incorporates Clere Golf technology, allowing greenkeepers to digitally map pin positions each day. These locations feed directly into the app, giving players accurate information during their rounds.
Course guides include yardages, hazard locations, and strategic advice for each hole.
For golfers planning visits, the app provides practical information about tee times, course availability, and seasonal variations. The platform updates automatically when changes occur to course schedules or playing conditions.
Local Golfers Get Enhanced Booking Features

Local links ticketholders access additional functionality through the Home of Golf app. Tee time booking is powered by Lightspeed technology, allowing residents to reserve slots directly from their devices.
A digital Links Ticket, powered by GolfClubSubs, replaces physical membership cards.
This streamlined approach removes the need for multiple logins or separate booking systems. Local golfers can now manage their entire St Andrews Links experience through one platform.
Developer Collaboration and User Testing Shape Final Product
App and digital experience agency Shockoe led the design and development process. A digital feedback panel of local golfers provided input during development, testing features and suggesting improvements.
Christopher Rydings, Chief Technology Officer at St Andrews Links Trust, said:
We’re incredibly proud to launch the Home of Golf app, which we see as a digital passport to St Andrews Links. The app is designed to enhance the entire golfer experience that local golfers and visitors alike have when visiting our site.
He added: “This is another great step towards our ambitions for digital innovation at St Andrews Links, driven by feedback from our community and a commitment to continuous improvement.”
The collaborative approach ensured the app addressed real user needs rather than theoretical requirements. The Home of Golf app won a Silver award for “Best User Experience” at the 2025 Lovie Awards, highlighting the interface design and functionality.
Early Adoption Shows Strong User Demand
Since launch, the app has been downloaded almost 10,000 times. Early adoption has focused on local golfers, who now use the platform for regular tee time booking.
Visitor downloads are expected to increase as awareness grows among international golfers planning trips to St Andrews.
The app represents part of a broader digital transformation at St Andrews Links Trust. Previous initiatives include an updated online booking system and the Singles Daily Draw, both launched in 2024.
Future updates to the app will incorporate additional features based on ongoing user feedback.
The Home of Golf app is available for download on iOS and Android devices through the App Store and Google Play.
