Cheshire Senior Ladies Enjoy Great Success
Cheshire senior ladies won the Northern Counties Richardson Trophy again after beating Lancashire.
The final and deciding match took place against their Red Rose rivals at Pleasington in what was to prove a very close encounter with only half a point separating the two teams.
The weather was not kind, and the players contended with wet and breezy conditions. Cheshire earned a half point which was enough to secure the trophy with four and a half points.
Lancashire were runners-up with four points.
Meanwhile, Cheshire’s Caroline Berry and Sara Spencer have been selected to represent England.
Caroline will play in the European Team Championships in Slovenia, and she, along with Sara, will represent England in Northern Ireland in the Senior Women’s Home Internationals in September.
Cheshire’s Cath Rawthore finished runner-up in the Northern Championship at Preston.
She was beaten on the 19th hole by Durham’s Lucy Ashworth.
Cath, along with Berry, Barbara Jamieson, Sarah Naden, and Spencer, have also all been selected to play for the Northern team in the Seniors Jamboree.
