Cole in Seventh Heaven at Reddish Vale
Reddish Vale’s Cole Parkinson has set a record at the club which may never have been achieved in Cheshire before.
The three-handicap county player was taking part in the first round of the ‘major’ Jubilee Trophy at his home club.
After a neat level-par 33 on the first nine, he followed this with a bogey five on the 10th hole. Then came an incredible run of seven consecutive birdies on holes 11-17 before he double-bogeyed the 18th.
It took Cole to a second nine holes of four-under-par and a round of 65 to take the lead on 62.
He was followed closely by fellow Vale and Cheshire junior star Daniel Myers, the son of Vale pro Andrew Myers.
Cole could not play in round two as he was playing for Cheshire Boys, and the Jubilee Trophy was won by Myers with a two-round total of 127.
