Costa Navarino has been crowned Europe’s premier golf destination for 2026, leading a data-driven 10th-anniversary ranking that highlights a shifting landscape in luxury golf travel.
A Milestone for Golfing Excellence
Leading Courses has released its 10th annual “Europe’s Best Golf Resorts” list, a ranking unique for being entirely powered by verified golfer reviews rather than expert panels.
The 2026 edition, produced in partnership with travel leader Skyscanner, uses a transparent 50/50 scoring split between course quality and Booking.com accommodation ratings.
To reward variety, a “multi-course bonus” of 0.005 points per hole is applied, giving a competitive edge to expansive destinations.
Europe’s Best Golf Resorts 2026 Leaderboard
Greece’s Costa Navarino remains the benchmark for the industry, securing the top spot with a near-perfect score of 9.63.
Spain’s Finca Cortesín Golf Club and Scotland’s legendary The Gleneagles Hotel round out the top three, proving that consistent infrastructure remains king for the discerning golfer.

France’s Evian Resort Golf Club made the most significant move into the elite tier, breaking into Europe’s Best Golf Resorts Top 5 for the first time.

“We have found a perfect partner in Skyscanner to support our golfing community. Together we make it easier for golfers to not only discover the best resorts in Europe, but also to plan their entire journey with confidence and transparency.”
The Biggest Movers
The 2026 rankings show that “emerging” destinations are rapidly closing the gap on established giants:
- Powerscourt Golf Club: The year’s standout performer, climbing a massive 30 positions.
- Zala Springs Golf Resort: A sharp upward move reflecting the growing strength of Hungarian golf tourism.
- The Crete Golf Club: Strengthening Greece’s dominance alongside the #1 ranked Costa Navarino.
- The Machrie: A notable climb for the Islay-based links, highlighting a trend toward remote, high-quality “bucket list” tracks.
The Challenge: How the Scores Work
The ranking system is designed to ensure golfers receive a balanced holiday experience.
A resort could have a World Top 100 course, but if the on-site hotel fails to meet premium standards, it will struggle to break the Top 10.
The “per-hole” bonus further incentivises resorts to maintain high standards across all their fairways, not just their flagship “Championship” course.
