Fran Wilbraham and Neil Drummond Support Local Charities
Macclesfield Golf Club’s outgoing captains have raised almost £10,000 for charity during their year in office.
Lady captain Fran Wilbraham chose MY CWA, a local Macclesfield charity supporting those suffering domestic abuse, while the men’s captain, Neil Drummond, chose Just Drop In, which has centres in Macclesfield and Knutsford, supporting young people, as his charity.
Working together with fundraising raffles, auctions, coffee mornings, and sponsored bike rides, they raised £9,120 through the generosity of the golf club members.
Their year as captains finished in February, and they were able to present cheques of £4,560 to each charity at a special lunchtime event in the clubhouse.
Both charities thanked the captains and the club for their generous donations.
They stressed that funding had been difficult in the past year as the cost of living put pressure on individual donors and local authorities were cutting back on awarding grants.
The cheques would enable them to continue the work of supporting those their charities helped.
Responding, the captains thanked golf club members for their generosity in donating to the captains’ charities, both of which it had been their privilege to nominate and support.
