Harwood Golf Club’s Charity Golf Day Raises £3,600 for Macmillan
The special fundraiser was titled ‘Greenkeepers’ Revenge’ with some “fun” pin placements.
Martyn Durham, the Bolton-based club’s head greenkeeper, had also had a field day with the greens iron.
“He managed to find the trickiest pin placements, which were like the US Open; the ball would not stop near the hole,” explained honorary secretary David Johnston.
“We held a four-person team event, with the best two scores counting with all four on the 18th,” he added.
The winning team out of 24 had 96 points, helped by the father of the professional, David Affleck, getting a hole-in-one on the par three 17th and a teammate a two, giving them nine points for the hole.
They were 13 points ahead of second place.
David said: “Players could buy three mulligans for a donation of £10, which were much needed.
We also had an auction of some City/United/Bolton memorabilia and have so far raised £3,600.”
